It's not always easy for consumers to figure out if the product in their hands is tested safe to use for them and their loved ones – but with an OEKO-TEX - Standard 100 certification, you can be sure that the product has been tested against the leading list of unwanted chemicals. The strongest safety threshold was applied, checking for skin contact with humans under the age of 3, I.e., babies or product class 1. Not a single value was found to be too high!
What is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100?
OEKO-TEX is an independent third party that tests and controls harmful substances in many consumer products. The certification ensures that a given product meets stringent requirements regarding ingredients, process chemicals, colors, traces, and additives. The labeling system has been around since 1992.
So which toxins does OEKO-TEX test for?
The list is very long and includes more than 300 substances, chemicals, etc., and you can read more about OEKO-TEX Standard 100 here. But some of the common toxins and chemicals include:
- Phthalates
- TBTs
- Colorants, dyestuffs, and pigments classified as carcinogenic and allergenic
