Why is sunscreen essential for babies?

A baby’s skin is thinner and more sensitive than an adult’s, making it highly vulnerable to sunburn and UV damage. Using a broad-spectrum sunscreen, along with shade and protective clothing, is key to keeping your little one safe outdoors.

For babies under 6 months, it’s best to keep them in the shade as much as possible and only use sunscreens when shade is not available as protection. Older babies and toddlers should also avoid direct sunlight during peak hours and always wear sunscreen when outside.

Although the sunscreen is water resistant, it is important to reapply sunscreen throughout the day to maintain the sun protection. For optimal protection, use one handful of sunscreen for one body – this goes for both adults and children – and apply 15 minutes before going into the sun to allow the cream to absorb into the skin.
