You might start to feel your clothes getting tighter at this point in your pregnancy, so it’s time to get a bit creative with your wardrobe. It’s also a great time to plan a little getaway.
Practice, practice
This week of your pregnancy, your baby is making small movements in your uterus, but you probably can’t feel it yet; he or she can also move their jaw and practice swallowing movements. Your baby is also starting to practice breathing. It’s not something they need yet, as their oxygen supply comes from you through the placenta and umbilical cord, but as soon as they’re born, they’ll be ready.
By the end of week 13 of your pregnancy, your baby will be around the size of a peach. 🍑
Time for a new wardrobe?
Are your clothes getting tighter? You can try to use an elastic or a button extender in your favorite jeans to make them last just a bit longer, or maybe just go straight into leggings; the most important thing is that you feel comfortable! You might also need to look for a new bra; your breasts are changing, and so are your lungs, making your circumference wider.
While some of your jeans are most likely getting tighter, you will probably be able to use some of your other clothes well into your pregnancy; looser fitting dresses and shirts can last you until the 3rd trimester, and you can use tighter button-up dresses by opening them and layering them over maternity jeans and a top.
Planning one last getaway before the baby comes
If you want one last trip alone before the baby arrives, now might be a good time to start planning. Usually, it’s not a problem to fly during your pregnancy, but check with the individual airline; they most likely have some form of limit to how far along you can be. If you are travelling outside of your country, it’s also a great idea to research what kind of medical attention your destination offers, should you need it during your stay. If you’re going somewhere warm and sunny, remember to bring sunscreen, as pregnant women are more susceptible to changes in their pigment.
But you don’t have to fly to take a little getaway. A stay for two at a nice spa resort, maybe with a gourmet dinner, is a great option for some pampering and romance. Some massages and spa activities are not recommended for pregnant women; make sure to do your research from home, and just get ready to relax.
