Your baby is now starting to resemble a real human being, just around the size of a grapefruit. You’re almost halfway through your pregnancy, so maybe it’s time to think about baby names?
A small human
The small fetus in your belly is now really starting to resemble a little human being. The ears have moved to the right place and the eyes have moved to the front of the face. Beneath the closed eyelids, the retinas have developed and are ready to react to light.
By the end of week 18 of your pregnancy, your baby is the size of a grapefruit. The baby measures 15 centimeters (22 centimeters from head to heel) and weighs 270 grams. 🍊
Choosing the right baby name
Do you already have a name for the little troublemaker growing in your belly? If not, you’ve probably started talking about baby names a while ago!
Finding the right baby name is one of the best, funniest and most frustrating things about pregnancy. It’s fun to juggle names around with your partner and play with different combinations. Some couples want to look for names in their family tree and maybe name their new baby after a beloved grandparent. Others prefer a unique name or way of spelling, and others again feel more drawn towards the most popular baby names. They’re usually popular for a reason!

Are you bonding with your baby?
You’re almost halfway in your pregnancy now at week 18, and you can start to feel movements from your baby anytime between now and week 20-21 (most first-time mothers feel movement around week 20).
Many pregnant women will start to feel connected to their baby early on in pregnancy, and this attachment will usually only get stronger as they start to feel movement and life. Being able to physically feel the movements and kicks will usually also make the bonding process easier for your partner.
If you’re worried about not bonding with your baby, remember: your baby knows you. It knows your body, your heartbeat and your voice. Your baby has already bonded with you.
